Previously, President Barack Obama delivered a measured statement the day after George Zimmerman was acquitted of murdering Trayvon Martin, calling for "calm reflection." During a White House press briefing, Obama spoke candidly about the verdict, mentioning the reality of Black men being racially profiled, himself included.  "When Trayvon Martin was first shot, I said that this could have been my son," began the POTUS. Gone But Never Forgotten

It pains me to not be present to attend such a meaningful moment for a person with such a loving and beautiful heart and spirit, but I know it pains his family more than anyone else could ever imagine. Due to the unexpected passing of a close friend of mine Wayne Drummer -whom was stabbed to death by his girlfriend of 5 years in her St. Petersburg apartment- his family and close friends are asking that people come out and offer their condolences and support as we all grief such a tragic event. There will be a candle light memorial outside of 785 Regent Dr, Dekalb, IL tonight at 6 p.m. sharp. If you're in Dekalb and knew of Wayne, I ask that you go to pay your respects. Being that his body remains in Florida, his family is asking that people donate and/or contribute money to help the family cover the expenses of the cost to have him shipped back to Chicago for a proper home going. Anything is greatly appreciated, no amount is too little or too much.
