Lupe's The Show Goes On was his first hit single from his third studio album entitled "Lasers". Despite all of the success and the popularity of this song it was not one Lupe was proud of. Fiasco says that the record company blackmailed him into "dumbing the song down" in order for people to relate to it or they would not release his album. He said it was almost like telling Picasso to paint poodles. But to their efforts, the song did get a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song & it also peaked at number 9 on the Billboards Top 100 list.
